Our Craftsmanship

Leather Wear UK jackets are built the same way regardless of which collection they sit in: real materials, cut properly, and finished to hold up for years — not seasons. This page goes into more detail on how that happens, from hide to finished jacket. For the wider story of who we are, see our About Us page.

Where Our Leather Comes From

We work with tanneries in Sialkot, Pakistan — a city with a genuine, long-standing reputation in leather manufacturing, and one of the world's most established hubs for tanning and leather garment production. Sourcing from Sialkot isn't a cost-cutting shortcut dressed up as a story: it's a deliberate choice that lets us offer genuine leather jackets without the luxury-brand markup, backed by generations of tanning and stitching expertise concentrated in one place.

Leather Selection

Every genuine leather jacket in our range is made from top-grain, full-grain, or lambskin leather, depending on the style. Each hide is checked by hand before it goes into production — for grain consistency, thickness, and any natural marks that would affect how the finished panel looks or wears. We choose leather for how it wears in over years, not just how it looks in the first photo.

Hand cutting leather patterns

Pattern Cutting

Patterns are cut to make the most of each hide, working around natural variation in the skin rather than against it. Cutting with the grain — not just around it — is part of what keeps a jacket's shape consistent panel to panel, and what allows the leather to develop an even patina as it ages.

Expert leather stitching

Stitching & Construction

Reinforced stitching at stress points — shoulders, cuffs, pocket seams — plus quality zippers and proper lining are standard across our range, not held back for premium lines. It's a slower, less flexible way to build a jacket business, but it's the reason a Leather Wear jacket still looks and feels right several years in, not just in the unboxing photos.

Vegan & Faux Leather Construction

For customers who want the moto or biker silhouette without genuine hide, we also offer vegan and faux leather styles. These are produced at the same manufacturing base in Sialkot, using synthetic and plant-based materials in place of animal leather — built to the same construction standard (reinforced stitching, proper lining, quality hardware) as the rest of the range.

Finishing & Quality Check

Before a jacket leaves production, hardware, stitching, and lining are checked against the pattern spec. Genuine leather is naturally water-resistant rather than fully waterproof, so we finish panels to hold up to everyday UK weather — light rain, wind, daily wear — without treating the leather in a way that would compromise how it ages.

Built to Last

A genuine leather jacket is a long-term piece, not a seasonal one. With basic care — keeping it away from prolonged heavy rain, occasional conditioning, proper storage — a Leather Wear jacket is built to be worn for years, developing character rather than wearing out. If you're not sure which cut or size will work for you, our Size Guide is there to help before you order, since leather doesn't stretch or return the way fabric does.
