Men’s Pelle Pelle Black Leather Jacket

Built entirely around black leather, silver stitching and dark rhinestone detailing, the Men’s Pelle Pelle Black Jacket takes a more understated approach to statement outerwear. From a distance, it has the clean appearance of a black leather bomber. Up close, its layered appliqué, contrasting threadwork, textured leather inserts and individual embellishments become much more noticeable.

The outer shell is made from 100% genuine sheepskin leather with an approximate thickness of 0.8mm. This provides enough structure for the jacket’s extensive decorative work while retaining the smoother, more flexible character associated with sheepskin.

A Monochrome Jacket with More Than One Texture

Although the stated colour is Black / Black with Silver Stitching, the jacket does not look flat or featureless. Different black surfaces are used throughout the design: smooth sheepskin, raised leather lettering, textured ribbon-style inserts, tonal embroidery and glossy dark rhinestones.

The sleeves and body remain black, so the contrast comes from texture, panel direction and silver-coloured stitching rather than a second leather colour. This gives the jacket a quieter appearance than a multicoloured Pelle Pelle design without removing the brand’s characteristic oversized artwork.

Silver stitching outlines the important parts of the design, making the lettering and appliqué visible against the black shell. Dark stones set within silver-tone surrounds add a subtle reflective finish when they catch the light.

The Sheepskin Leather Shell

The jacket is constructed from approximately 0.8mm genuine sheepskin leather. At this thickness, the leather has enough body to hold the embroidered and layered sections without feeling as rigid as a substantially heavier hide.

The product images show a smooth surface with natural grain visible in the close-ups. Genuine sheepskin can display small differences in grain, sheen and texture from one panel to another. These natural characteristics should not be confused with damage or inconsistent colouring.

Decorative areas may feel firmer than the plain leather because multiple appliqué layers, stitches and rhinestones are secured to the shell. The unembellished body and sleeve panels should remain comparatively more flexible.

Construction and Panel Layout

The front is divided by a horizontal yoke seam running across the upper chest. Below it, broad uninterrupted leather panels create a clean base around the central zipper and lower pockets.

The sleeves use a saddle-seam, multi-panel construction. Curved seams shape the upper sleeve, while another horizontal seam separates the upper and lower arm around the elbow. These articulated panels add definition to an otherwise all-black sleeve and allow the leather to follow the arm more naturally.

Most structural seams are sewn with tonal black thread. Double rows of topstitching can be seen around the front yoke, sleeves, pocket welts and zipper facings. On the artwork, brighter silver-coloured stitching is used to outline individual letters, numbers and appliqué pieces.

At the back, a vertical centre seam runs through the lower body beneath the artwork. Shoulder and upper-back panel lines help support the larger decorative sections.

Tonal Chest Artwork

The wearer’s left chest carries a compact version of the jacket’s heritage-inspired graphic. “True to Our Roots” is directly embroidered in black thread above a matching black leather crest, banner and 1978 artwork.

Self-leather appliqué is used to keep the graphic consistent with the black body. Silver contrast stitching follows the edges of the crest, banner and numbers, while dark rhinestones bring dimension to selected areas.

Because the embroidery and base leather are both black, the chest design does not dominate the front. It becomes more visible as light moves across the raised stitching and leather layers.

Marc Buchanan Sleeve Branding

Marc Buchanan “MB” branding is applied to the wearer’s left sleeve. The artwork combines black leather appliqué with rhinestone detailing, continuing the monochrome treatment used on the chest and back.

The saddle-seam sleeve construction gives this artwork a defined panel on which to sit. Rather than using a printed sleeve graphic, the separate leather elements are stitched onto the sheepskin shell, giving the branding a raised and tactile finish.

Oversized Two-Ply Back Artwork

The back is where the black-and-silver design becomes most expressive. Oversized “Pelle Pelle” lettering arches across the shoulders, formed from two-ply leather appliqué. Each letter is bordered by closely spaced silver stitching and multiple dark rhinestones in reflective surrounds.

Beneath the main lettering, the design incorporates:

  • “True to Our Roots” script

  • A circular Marc Buchanan “MB” crest

  • Tonal banner artwork

  • An “Established” leather panel

  • Large 1978 leather numbers

  • “Genuine Leather” script

  • Marc Buchanan signature-style embroidery

The use of black leather at several levels creates depth without introducing a bright accent colour. Smooth, grained and subtly patterned leather sections can be seen within the banner and appliqué. Silver thread separates these layers visually and gives the artwork a more defined outline.

The individual pieces are secured with close, consistent rows of stitching. Since this is applied artwork rather than a flat print, it has a substantial three-dimensional appearance when viewed from the side.

Pointed Leather Collar

A structured, shirt-style leather collar completes the neckline. The collar has clean pointed ends, a lightly padded edge and close tonal topstitching that follows its full outline.

Unlike a ribbed varsity collar, this leather design gives the jacket a sharper and more substantial profile. Narrow piping around the collar edge adds definition while maintaining the all-black colour scheme.

The collar sits directly above the front zipper, allowing the jacket to close high at the neck when required or remain slightly open for a more relaxed look.

Custom-Branded Front Zipper

The jacket closes with a full-length metal zipper. Its silver-tone pull is custom branded with Pelle Pelle lettering and sits between two neatly folded black leather zipper facings.

The silver hardware coordinates with the contrast stitching and rhinestone surrounds. The lower zipper area is reinforced with leather where it meets the ribbed waistband, helping the closure sit neatly at the base of the jacket.

Exterior and Interior Pockets

Two vertical double-welt pockets are positioned on the lower front. Each pocket opening is framed by narrow folded leather welts and finished with tonal double stitching.

The pocket design is intentionally simple and does not use visible exterior zippers. This keeps the lower front uncluttered and leaves the chest artwork as the main point of interest.

Inside, the jacket is finished with a smooth, dark satin lining. Interior pockets are incorporated into the lining, and the gallery shows zip-secured internal storage with black leather-trimmed openings. These pockets provide a safer place for smaller personal items than the open exterior hand pockets.

Outlined Pelle Pelle embroidery is applied to the satin interior, continuing the branding even where it is not normally visible.

Heavy 2x2 Ribbed Cuffs and Hem

The sleeves finish with substantial black 2x2 rib-knit cuffs. Matching ribbing runs around the hem, drawing the leather body inward at the waist and establishing the jacket’s bomber shape.

The heavier rib structure helps the cuffs sit securely around the wrists and gives the waistband enough substance to balance the weight of the leather shell. Both trims remain completely black, maintaining the monochrome finish.

You can compare this embellished design with cleaner and more traditional silhouettes in the men’s leather bomber jacket collection.

Fit and Sizing Considerations

This jacket combines a structured leather collar and panelled sleeves with a fitted ribbed waistband. The decorative back is made from several leather layers, so it may initially feel less flexible than an undecorated leather bomber.

When selecting a size, consider both your chest measurement and the amount of clothing you plan to wear underneath. If you expect to layer it over a sweatshirt or hoodie, take your measurements while wearing a similar layer.

Sizes currently range from XS to 5XL, with a custom-size option also available. Compare your measurements with the Leather Wear UK size guide rather than choosing solely from the size printed in another jacket.

How to Wear the Black-on-Black Design

The monochrome colour makes this jacket easier to coordinate than its amount of artwork might suggest. Black denim creates a complete tonal outfit, while faded grey jeans introduce a small amount of contrast without competing with the silver stitching.

For a simpler everyday combination, wear it over a plain black, white or charcoal T-shirt. Straight-leg trousers and clean black footwear give it a sharper appearance, while loose denim and trainers suit the jacket’s streetwear and hip-hop influence.

Additional heavily printed clothing is unnecessary. The appliqué, embroidery and rhinestones already give the jacket enough visual interest.

Care for Sheepskin, Appliqué and Rhinestones

Do not machine wash, tumble dry or immerse the jacket in water. If it becomes lightly damp, blot away surface moisture with a soft cloth and leave it to dry naturally on a broad hanger. Keep it away from radiators, hairdryers and direct heat.

Avoid rubbing the rhinestone and appliqué areas against rough surfaces. Repeated abrasion from backpacks or shoulder bags can place unnecessary pressure on the raised artwork and silver stitching.

Leather conditioner should only be used after checking that it is appropriate for black sheepskin. Test it on a small, hidden section first and keep conditioner away from the satin lining, embroidery, appliqué edges and rhinestones.

For extensive cleaning or stain removal, use a leather-care specialist familiar with embellished garments. Store the jacket in a breathable garment cover and avoid folding it through the large back artwork.
